PALMETTOSTATION AT MANATEE COUNTY FAIR

When we made the decision to take over the Palmetto Filling Station we decided to use the proceeds to pay the gate on Tuesdays PalmettoBUILD Night so families and individuals would be able to come to the fair on one night without paying to get in. We partnered with others to sponsor a veteran’s ceremony that evening and we collected canned goods to be donated to the Mayors Feed the Hungry Program.

In 2023 records were set:

  • Tuesday Night Attendance 9,300 was a new record.   This was not only a blessing for individuals but we helped each and every ride operator, food vendor or game operator with increased sales.
  • Food Collected was a new record with 1,689 pounds of food collected.
  • We supported the Veterans program where they honored three WWII female veterans two in there late 90’s and one 102. The attendance for the Veterans event was one of the largest ever as well.
  • Many folks have been prayed for and ministered to this year.

BLAST (BOY’S LIFE AFTER SCHOOL TRAINING) PROGRAM

PalmettoBUILD Partnered with the Palmetto Youth Center and Reggie Bellamy to Run the Blast (Boy’s Life After School Training) Program. We connected teenage boys with male mentors who would teach them Christian Values. We focused on Character Development, College and Career preparation, goal setting, community service, and Gratitude. We sponsored Pizza Nights, a Orlando Magic Basketball Game, and Movie Nights with men and boys going together to watch a inspirational True Life Stories. We brought in speakers such as Major League Baseball players, NBA Basketball Players, Game on Nation, business leaders, coaches, and the Police Chief, among others. The Program stopped when COVID-19 would not allow us to meet but we are hoping to get it back up and running in the future.
